BT wins an award!

Thisismoney.co.uk announce that Money Mail have awarded their 2008 Wooden Spoon award to British Telecom.  This is from an online customer survey.  One notable quote from the article is:

There were two areas you felt most aggrieved about. The first was dealing with overseas call centres. You complained that you are forced to spend a substantial amount of time pressing buttons in the automated system before you can reach a human being.

You were frequently unsure of which option to choose, and when you did finally manage to speak to an operator were often passed on to another department.

This was precisely my experience in my two and a half hour BT runaround when I was trying to persuade BT to stop charging me after I left them for another ISP over the Phorm phiasco (aka BT-Webwise).  It is pretty appaling that a Telecom company should be so inept at coomunication. Recall also BT's efforts to suppress dissent over Phorm on its broadband fora (on which I am still, as far as I know, on my final warning for using the word "it" to refer to BT Webwise).

Money Mail are amused that the BT Chief Exectutive was so interested in this public perception of his company that he...passed the buck to a non board member to deal with it.
