This is the likely itinerary for our 2009 Scottish tour. It's still not written in stone, as we need to contact various people we want to meet up with en route. I'm planning to update this blog as we go (Vodafone 3G access permitting!).
Day 1 - Tayport to Aberfeldy or Kenmore. Hoping to stop off an visit an old friend near Dunkeld.
Day 2 - Aberfeldy/Kenmore to Oban. Aiming to spend the night in Oban to catch the Mull ferry the following morning.
Day 3 - Oban to Mull and Iona. We've never visited Iona before. It's a brief ferry trip from Mull.
Day 4 - Mull, ending up at Tobermory.
Day 5 - Tobermory to Kilchoan in Ardnamurchan, then onwards through Moidart, to stop somewhere between Arisaig and Mallaig.
Day 6 - across to Skye via the Mallaig ferry, back to the mainland via the Skye bridge and onwards to Strathcarron.
Day 7 - Strathcarron up to the Black Isle. Possibly visit friend near Culbokie.
Day 8 - Black Isle to Grantown-on-Spey. We've done this on a previous tour, was OK, but wet!
Day 9 - Grantown-on-Spey to Braemar. This takes us over the famous Tomintoul-Cockbridge route. Last time we did this, visibility was about 5 feet! Hopefully this time we'll get some better views.
Day 10 - Braemar to Tayport. The home leg, on roads we're familiar with from our previous life in Dundee.
Like I say, none of this is for sure, and could well be influenced by bad weather, mechanical problems and even exhaustion!
