CTT Winter Winter Zwift Series Event 3 - 29th November 2025
For the third weekend in a row, I lined up for one of the CTT winter series. This time we were on three laps of the Richmond Fan Flats course. I made sure to have a look at the course, which was good because there was a significant lean-in before the first of the three laps. In fact, I used the warmup to ride round the lead-in and first lap.
As you'd expect from the name, it's a pretty flat course though perhaps a bit more undulating than Tempus Fugit used for the first event. Despite feeling quite good for this event, it didn't go quite according to plan.

Warming up on a Zwift TT bike.
I was riding the Saturday morning 0900 start - as usual there were three opportunities to ride the event, the preceding Wednesday at 1900, and two on Saturday at 0900 and 1600 respectively. After the debacle last week, when a dropped BT connection forced me to pack and try again in the afternoon, I made sure to enter for 0900 (in case of further tech issues) and double and triple check the BT connections. When I entered, it seemed like Zwift (or maybe CTT) hed decided my power was such that I was to enter Category B instead of Category C.
In terms of the technical situation, all went well. The same can't be said of my performace. I continue to have real difficulty in holding a reasonably consistent power, and periodically pause for a few seconds to rest my legs. It was a bit different last week with a couple of climbs, which seem to give a bit of motivation to keep things rolling well. And seeing as I was starting in a higher category this week, with riders starting every 15s I had a load of riders coming past this week!
Anyway, the upshot was that i felt like I was struggling round the course, and I finished near the bottom of Cat B with power pretty much around last week's event.
Next week sees a mountain TT over the Innsbruck world championship loop. That should be interesting. I also noted that these TT events are set to be unaffected by the Zwift bike selected, which makes sense.
