NBRC Stoke Hammond '10' 15th July 2026

A pleasant, if a little blustery, evening greeted the eight riders who'd signed up for this evening's 10 mile trime trial. I was continuing to see if I could adapt to the shorter, steeper, aero extensions I'd fitted to the 3T Aduro high mount setup. It wasn't too bad, but clearly room for improvement. In fact I'd already ordered anew set of bars to fit directly to the Aduro base bars!

Anyway, another approach was to try moderating the gears I was riding in, to try and reduce the amount of grinding away at low cadence.

The blustery wind didn't really make much difference to handling of the front wheel, but it did slow me down somewhat at times. I've pasted the wind conditions below.Screenshot 2026 07 22 at 14.21.11

Just coming off the aero bars at the finish...

Ultimately, I came in third place with 24:18...something of a target for my next ride on this course. Report with results at the NBRC website. I get the feeling that my average power for these events is gradually rising, though I'm still working on getting set up in a more comfortable position that'll help me stay aero.

Afterwards, three of us (who hadn't rushed off to watch England in the World Cup) went down to The Dolphin in Stoke Hammond for some (non-alcoholic) rehydration. My next event is the Verulam open '25' on the F8/25, a newish course that I've not ridden before.
